Women & Wealth | July 21, 2016
The GW & Wade Women and Wealth team hosted two events this past June, which energized...and engaged all who attended.
First, there was the Women & Wealth Estate Planning breakfast, held at the Newton Marriott. Attorney Emily McNeil led our discussion about the basics of an estate plan, with special focus on issues unique to women. Emily spoke to the importance of reviewing and updating all estate documents, particularly Durable Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies. Attorney Denise Yurkofsky addressed some unique issues women face when in the role of surviving or divorced spouse, or the primary care provider of an elder parent. Later in June, businesswomen Pam Lenehan, author of the book, My Mother My Mentor: What Grown Children of Working Mothers Want You to Know, presented her findings at the Wellesley Country Club. This was an insightful presentation and discussion, with many mothers and daughters in attendance. Pam shared her stories, interviews and research about how children of working mothers have fared. We learned that these children have grown into resilient and confident adults. Some important takeaways from Pam’s research for working parents today include:
The sense of relief in the room was palpable: my kids are going to be OK! Click here to view a summary of Pam Lenehan’s research and observations.
Our goal with these events is to provide a forum for information and networking for GW & Wade’s women clients, friends and contacts. Please let us know if you have topics or questions around which you would like us to focus an event. We sincerely welcome your input.
